Why the Select Board?
The Select Board is composed of 3 members who are elected for 3-year terms. As the Chief Elected and Executive Officers of the Town, the Select Board is vested with all the municipal authority not specifically retained by the Town’s legislative body, Town Meeting, or other elected boards. The Select Board acts as Police Commissioner, appoints the Town Administrator and members of most official boards and commissions, adopts Town administrative policies, enforces Town Bylaws and regulations, holds public hearings on important Town issues, and serves the Town through other duties and responsibilities.
As a current member and past chair of the Hingham Select Board, Joe Fisher advocates for the best interests of Hingham residents on a regular basis. Building on his long-term commitment to making Hingham a community that we can all be proud of, Joe brings his energy and expertise to the Select Board. Joe works every day to assure that the Town is run with fiscal prudence, integrity and social responsibility.
